The remarkable Commissioning and graduation of Sub Lieutenant Samuel Conteh was another commendable offer made to the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) as an opportunity for a Cadet Officer to be trained at NDA in Kaduna, Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Regular Commissioning Course 69 started on 16th September 2017 and ended on 30th September 2022. NDA was established in 1964 to provide primarily military officers’ training for the Nigeria Armed Forces.
Since it inceptions to date, the Nigeria Defence Academy has graduated Thousands of officers inclusive officers from other African countries like Benin, Chad, Gambia, Niger, Sierra Leone, Uganda and Zimbabwe. It is worth noting that NDA provides both military and academic training for a period of Five (5) years, with the vision “to provide officers with broad based training in both military and academic subjects designed to serve as a foundation for future progressive development of officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces. In complementing that vision, the NDA mission is geared towards providing officer cadets with adequate knowledge, skills and values necessary to meet the requirements of a military officer through military academic and character development.

    

On Tuesday 4th October 2022, Sub/Lt S Conteh was one of the gradaunts for the 32nd Convocation Ceremony organized by NDA in honour of Officer Cadets of 69 Regular Course, after successfully completing courses in various academic disciplines. His Excellency the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo served as the Special Guest of Honour for the graduation ceremony.

Similarly, on Thursday 6th October 2022, NDA held its Passing out Parade and Commissioning Ceremony of the 69 Regular Course for the Army, Navy and Air Force. The Commandant of the Academy, Major General IM Yusuf, did a comprehensive documentary of the reviewed curriculum. His Excellency the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR who was the Reviewing Officer, commissioned Officer Cadets of 69 Regular Course at the NDA Auditorium Afaka in Kaduna Nigeria.

The Chief of Staff (COS), Ministry of Defense (MoD), Major General CF Marah, the Defence Attaché to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Colonel MM Gbassa and the Military Assistance to the Chief of Staff –MoD Major S Bangura were the personalities within the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) that witnessed the graduation and commissioning ceremony of Sub Lt S Conteh. The COS presented a gift to the NDA Commandant on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces- Lieutenant General PK Lavahun and the Commandant NDA also reciprocated same.
