Commodore Moses Bayemen Miller
Assistance Chief of Defence Staff of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces

Commodore Moses Bayemen Miller was born on 28 November 1961 in Senehun, Karboro Chiefdom Moyamba District. Commodore Miller had his early education at UMC Primary school, Bompetoke-shenge between 1967-72. He enrolled in the Albert Academy, Freetown, between 1972-78 where he obtained his GCE.O.Level. In 1980 he sat to the GEC A Level in the Sierra Leone Grammar School. Between 1982 – 1986, commodore Miller entered Fourah Bay College University of Sierra Leone and graduated with Bsc with Major in Chemistry. His extra-curricular activities included Deputy Editor, Aureol Publications of Fourah Bay College in 1983/84. President, Junior Rotary Club of Freetown -1984/85. Member, student Representative council, FBC student Union 1985/86, Treasurer MYO, Wilberforce. Commodore Miller has worked on the following unpublished research project: Electrochemistry in Industry 1986-dessertation in partial fulfillment for the award of university degree. Military Politicization: causes and effect-In partial fulfillment for theaward of pjsc-2000 Maritime disaster Management in Africa-2006. Revolution in Military Affairs and Armed Forces Construction-2008

Following his graduation he was enlisted in the RSLAF as Officer Cadet in Nov 1986. After almost 2 years of rigorous training in Benguma Training Centre, he was commissioned second Lieutenant on 15 April 1988. As he traversed the military ranks, he did several successful career courses: Oct-Dec 1988-PQS Benguma Training Centre, Sep 1989 –Jul 1990 International Midshipman Course, Britanna Royal Naval College in Dartmouth, United Kingdom, Where he again was commissioned Sub Lt Feb0Jul 1994, Navigation training Specialty at regional Maritime, Academy’ Ghana. Feb-Jun 2000-Junior Command and Staff course, Jaji. Sep 01: Defence Management at the Royal Military College and Staff Cse, Nanjing, People Rep of China and Sep 2007-Jul 2008 Defence and Strategic Studies: National Defence University, People Republic of China and is a fellow of that University. He is also an Alumni of the African Centre of Strategic studies, National Defence University, Washington DC.

Prior to his enlistment in 1982, he worked as Medical Statistics clerk in the Min of Health. And in 1986 he taught at the Service Secondary school Freetown. He has held several command and staff appoints including Executive Officer-1990, CO PB 102 NAIMBANA-1994, CO FARADUGU in 1996, Ag Director Naval Ops 2000 SO1 Ops Naval HQ-2001, CO Maritime Wing 2004 DDTER 2008 and D Def Log & ES since 09 until his promotion to Commodore. Commodore Miller has attended and participated in several seminars workshops and conferences both at local and International Levels.

He has travelled widely and he is credited for having visited all 6 continents of the world. He is happily married to Mrs. Flora Miller and they are blessed with 3 children, 2 boys and one girl. His hobbies include fishing and gardening.
